ArcheAge is allows players to explore not only continents but also travel by the sea and explore underwater territories. Two factions, Western Continent and Eastern Continent, are separated by a huge ocean. And that’s where a ship will help you a lot. This article will tell you about where you can get a ship and how you can use it in the game.
Ship in ArcheAge is like a mount – a player can use it for traveling faster. The general difference is that standard mounts allow traveling by the land, while ships allow traveling by the sea. It’s one of the ways to travel from one continent to another. The greatest feature is that a ship is fully controllable and you can travel on it wherever you wish. There are several reasons to get a ship:
Small ships can be purchased from vendor, but they allow only traveling. If you want to have a lot of fun with your friends you will have to get a large vessel. ArcheAge is known by its crafting system and one of the most exciting features in the game is ship building. Yes, a player will have to build a large ship in order to use it. There are different types of ships: some are better for trading, others are better for fighting and so on. But the process of ship building will require a lot of resources and labor anyway.
After the ship is ready it can be summoned in any place where it’s possible to set sails and travel.
There are 2 general categories of ships: Small Boats and Large Vessels. Small ships are much easier to get than large. Large vessels will require a lot of resources and labor and you will probably have to ask your friends to help with constructing.
Small Boats can be purchased from vendors. All you need is to buy the ship and summon it near water.

Ship construction process is very similar for all ship types. The only difference is the amount of labor you will have to spend and the amount of raw materials/resources.
1) The first step is getting a blueprint/recipe of your future vessel. Most of the blueprints can be purchased at a special trading island - Mirage Island. But some really cool blueprints like Black Pearl blueprint can be obtained from monsters’ loot. It’s also possible to purchase recipe through auction house if you have enough funds.
2) Then you need to gather required resources and raw materials for placing special dock and for constructing the ship itself. It’s better to find all required resources before start crafting. The resource requirements for each ship can be found in a table above.
3) Once you have a resources and blueprint you can set up crafting dock. The dock can be placed not far from the shore, just right click the recipe in your inventory and select a place.
Tip: don’t place dock far from the city/village. Later on, you will have to deliver resource packs to the dock and if it is far you will have to spend a lot of time for this.
4) Deliver the resources. You will have to convert your resources into bundles/packs and deliver bundles to the platform. The resources can be converted into bundles near crafting table. 100 wood = 1 bundle of wood, 100 clothes = 1 bundle of clothes.
Don’t forget that the bundle will drop if you die or if someone kills you. Any other person can pick up dropped bundle. It is better to ask your friend to follow you and protect from enemies.
You will have to repeat the delivery several times. Once all resources delivered the ship will be ready.
After creating a ship you can customize it by placing your own image/print on the sails. This image will replace the default one.
Different types of ships have different number of interactive elements. These elements allow you to activate special features of your ship. You can manage all the elements yourself but if you have a crew of friends who can help this will bring you a lot of fun.
What if the ship was destroyed in battle?
After your ship is destroyed by enemies it can be found in the inventory and it must be repaired in a shipyard. You can’t use it until it’s repaired.
